Credit: This course has been approved for 3 credit hours of ethics continuing education credit for New Mexico psychologists. The New Mexico Counseling and Therapy Practice Board and the New Mexico Social Work Board currently accept continuing education credits that are approved for New Mexico psychologists. These courses have not been approved for use in other states.
Summary:  Psychological Treatment of Ethnic Minority Populations (Council of National Psychological Association of Ethnic Minority Interests of the Asian APA, the Association of Black Psychologists, National Latina/o Psychological Association, Society of Indian Psychologists), Published by the Association of Black Psychologists, Washington, D.C., p.1-31, 2003. This course reviews the literature on the psychological treatment of Asian, Black, Latino/Hispanic, and Native Americans. The course provides guidelines as to what it means to be culturally competent to work with these populations and provides methods for developing awareness, skill, and knowledge when working with these populations.
