Presentation Summaries:

Todd Sewell, PhD - 'What Would My Shrink Say?'
The limited flow of valuable information gathered by psychologists to the general public is problematic for the field of psychology.  Many psychologists have thought "If more people knew..., they would have happier and more meaningful experiences/lives."  This talk will present one example of two psychologists who created a podcast to disseminate information they thought would be helpful, entertaining, and informative to the general public.

Tim Strongin, PhD - 'Preventing Human Error in the Workplace'
Accidents and injuries cause countless losses of life, health and peace of mind.  The organizational, supervisory, interpersonal and intrapersonal factors that predispose us to danger are well-documented and frequently reported.  Psychologists have a unique role in enhancing organizational safety because of our background in neuropsychology, perception, learning, behavior, emotion, interpersonal relations and decision-making.  This presentation presents a systematic approach to identifying and preventing human factors errors.

Rex Swanda, PhD - 'The Arc of Clinical Practice'
How did you get where you are now, and where might your unique mix of interests, talents, and experiences take you in the future?  Using personal experiences as well as examples of other psychologists, this presentation aims to inspire psychologists to identify their own unique history of critical personal and professional factors that have led them to their present professional life, and consider some of the factors that will prepare them to creatively forge new paths in their personal and professional lives.
